Questionnaire Section 1:

Tell us about yourself:

I grew up in SE Wisconsin, and have been fishing and hunting everything from small game to bear since I was young. I have spent the last 20 years working in the Veterinary field, and currently own and operate Tillie Lake Veterinary Clinic in Jackson, WI.

Questionnaire Section 2:

With road closures severely limiting hunting access to large areas of timber company-owned land and county forest lands, we need BOD members who are willing and able to go to local government meetings and advocate for keeping land open for hunting. WBHA must continue devoting time to assure that bear hunting will continue to be recognized as a valuable activity here in Wisconsin.

Besides BOD meetings and the Annual meeting how much time can you commit per month? (Options: 2 hours, 4 hours, 10 hours, or More)

More

How far are you willing to drive? (Options: 20 miles, 50 miles, 100 or more miles)

100 or more miles

What days are the best days? (Options: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday)

Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Questionnaire Section 3:

What are some of the things you feel you can personally do to further accomplish the goals of WBHA?

I try to stay informed on the many issues and potential changes that not only affect bear hunting, but hunting in general, which I feel is extremely important. I also feel that it is important to educate non-hunters on what hunting, specifically hunting with hounds, actually entails. Unfortunately there is a huge misconception about many aspects of hunting and hounding in the general public. Most people have no idea how important hunting is to conservation and the preservation of certain species. Working in the Veterinary field has afforded me unique opportunities to educate the public on the many benefits of hunting, including conservation. It has also allowed me to discuss the importance of hounding, as it allows hunting dogs to do something they absolutely love, and it gives them a purpose. Much like a police dog. In addition to staying informed and educating about the positive benefits of hunting, I will continue to offer my time in helping with and volunteering at various WBHA events such as Town Halls and the Convention, which I have been doing for several years.

Questionnaire Section 4:

Knowing that the HSUS has an unlimited bankroll, and one that is far superior to what the WBHA has, what would you be willing to do to save your sport?

Again, I feel that staying informed and educating non-hunters, specifically the antis, on the positive effects of hunting is extremely important. Unfortunately, there are always going to be anti hunters, no matter what we do, but I feel that is is extremely important for us to lead by example. We don't need to give those that oppose us any more reason to do so. We need to show them that hunting is not just a sport to us. It is a way of life. We further conservation and preservation of species. We give our dogs a purpose. We put food on our tables. We help stimulate the economy. It is something that we are passionate about, and we are not going to give it up without a fight.
